Grizzly Lake
Last year we were camping near Buena Vista and found a trail off the side of the road. The trail was to Grizzly Lake. We hadn’t provisioned ourselves very well and it was late in the afternoon. We weren’t sure how close we were to Grizzly Lake when we decided to turn around. We tried to find it last week. We started early in the morning. Suffice it to say that it was quite chilly when we first started at about 8:00am. It takes me a bout a mile and a half to be warmed up. Our hike began with STEEP hill:
It started to warm up at about 9:30. This was compounded by finally getting out of the shadow of the mountain. The entire trip is rocky.
We saw many mountain wild flowers.
Last time we didn’t make it to these rocks. I think we were less than a mile from the Lake:
It was so peaceful. We ended up having the lake to ourselves. It was too windy and chilly to get some good fly fishing, but we had a nice little lunch by the shore.
